When it is plugged in, however, hibernation results in a blue screen with a "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE". When my laptop is running off battery power, hibernation works perfectly. I also have a strange problem with hibernation. This problem is described in valve's steam support, and I have verified that it is definitely a driver problem in my case, not a paged memory problem. I can run source games like Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead with no slow-down, but after ~5 minutes they start a cycle of freezing (graphical glitches, sound starts repeating, screen turns black for ~10 seconds then normal picture/control comes back) which repeats every 2-3 minutes.
I have a mobility x1600, and Windows 7 was able to install semi-working drivers for it through windows update.
